Hey Guys! We're still under going some construction, polishing things up that sort of thing, but we haven't got a lot left to do so we should be open soon!
It’s early August, the last true month of the summer. Summer solstice is heading our way so we have darker nights to look forward too, and longer lie ins, unless you’re out on raids. The weather is still warm, warm enough to hang out in the oval without your jacket, even without your shirt. Of course this is Australia, so it’s not often it isn’t warm…

His eyes scanned the place and finally Clay spoke, and it was as if they were having the same sort of thoughts. “It would’ve been the middle of the morning in Ireland.” He mused aloud. “Everyone would’ve been getting up for school and work…” His friends would’ve been eating cereal, getting milk on their faces and pulling on messy clothes for pre-school. His sister’s friends would be getting ready for their exams. It had been Exam season, he remembered because his father had taken them away and his sister had sulked about missing her end of year papers. Not that she had been old enough for them to qualify for anything, but they were exams all the same.
Clay wet his lips, adjusted the pack on his back a little and wandered down the isles of the store, deciding not to think about it. He didn’t do it often, just every time his mind wasn’t on something else. It wandered back to home, Clay just assumed it had happened there too, after all, they knew Kids who had come from far and wide, and it had happened to them.
He found the medical isle and used the bottom of his shirt to wipe away the dust off a few off the cartons and boxes, turning them all over in his hands. Clay spent enough time in the infirmary to know what they needed and what they desperately needed. Bandages were one of the latter. Still, he picked up several of the different boxes and turned them all over, reading the backs in the dim lighting, and opening one or two to check the material was still good.
On his third box he yelped and dropped it. “Oh fuck!” Pulling a face that looked like he was going to be sick, glanced at Ella and then picked up the box timidly, opening it slowly to show her the insides. The bandage was crawling with maggots. Clearly some form of insect had gotten in, found it warm, laid a few eggs and left them there…he cringed visibly, and when the box left his touch again wiped his hands on his trousers several times, still pulling a face. In fact it was a face similar to the one she got about Rats. Not that he was afraid, he just thought maggots were gross. They were one of the things he couldn’t deal with, after all they only swarmed around dead or rotting flesh…so he hated to think what was in the box.

“I can be quiet as a mouse when i want to be.” She p[retested, folding her arms across her chest and watching him walk away for a second. Then, deciding to be just that, quiet, she followed after him, the only sound coming from her the sound of her boots hitting the floor. Though, as she walked –mostly- in time with his own footsteps there wasn’t all that much noise anyway. His foot falls were slightly heavier than her own, his tallness and added bulk making them so.
She followed him, towards the pharmacy he pointed out. The shutter was open on this one, it having once been one of those open all night, 24/7 deals. She couldn’t help but wonder what people had been doing in there when the change came, if small crying children had been holding their parents hand one minute, and the next they were gone. She didn’t want to even think what that was like, if it had happened. Though, she was sure that somewhere in the world, it would have. Poor sods.
Pushing open the door she followed him in, and couldn’t help but grin. The shelves were lined with pills and cream, everything from antibiotics, to as she quite audibly pointed out, condoms. Well, so much for that vow of silence lasting long. “I’d say we hit the jackpot again Clay, but I’ve already said that once.” She mused, slipping the backpack from her shoulders and leaning it against one f the shelves.

It would always come down to this, man versus woman and shopping. Because shopping would always be woman’s alley, no matter how anti-shopping that woman was. It was like Clay’s inbuilt beer-dar, women had inbuilt ‘lets shop for a really long time and really annoy any guy that is stupid enough to come with me’-dar. It probably had a shorter, clinical name, like sadism or something, but the longer version amused Clay that much more.
“Ok Ok, I’m done.”
“Finally.”
“beans, beans they’re good for yer heart, but the more you eat the more you FART!”
Clay wiped spit of his face, and stared at her like she’d lost her bleeding marbles. And everything around them echoed at her song, when he’d finished blinking at her in disbelief, he just shook his head and walked on passed her. Clay shouldered the now heavier bag (having stashed his medi-kit on top of the tins she’d put within) and saunter downs the isles, under the barrier and out of the shop into the grandeur of the mall.
“Pharmacy…” He murmured to himself as his eyes scanned around the shops signs. “There-“ Clay nodded, pointing towards a shop that had a green cross in the name. Dead give away that. “Come on, megaphone – try and keep quiet can’t ya?” He grinned and headed across the story floor his boots thudding on the ground a little.
